Testimonials
I've worked with Tsering Rhitar on three different films over the past 10 years and his work is brilliant. His professionalism combined with his calm demeanor, sensitivity to the creative realities of filmmaking and understanding of the local culture as well as the culture of the film making world, make him the perfect fixer, production coordinator, location manager, translator, and guide. However, his creative talents as a filmmaker combined with his generosity of spirit make him more of a partner in the filmmaking process than a hired hand and who wouldn't rather have a brother by his side than a mercenary when making a film, particularly when working in a foreign culture.

Tsering was my opening guide to Kathmandu and Nepal while working with me on a quite tight schedule for several days, thus I remember him as much more than just a fine local producer with a quick, secure and inspired approach to the different tasks. He seems to know very well what a European journalist expects of his professional skills and is - as I would like to accentuate - a truly friendly fellow who I was sorry to quit after the work was done.

‘What Makes Me Happy' is a television series that uses short dramatised films to represent disadvantaged children from around the world, by capturing their positive spirit and resilience. One of the programmes was shot in Pokhara, Nepal....Ranjita's Film...and was directed by Tsering Sherpa.
To work alongside Tsering was a great opportunity and I was happy with his competence in both the technical and directorial field. He has a natural talent in working with children and the patience that is required. At the same time, he is not rigid in his directing structure and can quickly and easily adapt to accommodate.
I have kept in contact with him and used him via Mila Productions, on a further sequence connected with this series. With very little information, he contributed a very unique piece of work of children playing around the streets of Katmandu.
He has a natural ability to instantly understand what is required which is particularly unique when crossing a cultural divide and a great bonus.
My working relationship with Tsering will definitely continue as and when the need arises.

We first worked with Tsering in 1998, during the filming of the BBC documentary, The Shadow Circus: The CIA in Tibet, when he helped us set up our shoot in Nepal and took care of the production. His understanding of the requirements of a documentary film shoot and his resourcefulness in organising it made a difficult production schedule stress-free and enjoyable.
In 1999, we visited him on the sets of his feature film, Mukundo, and were impressed with the high standards and production values he brought to the shoot, despite the constraints of being a low budget film.
In 2003, we called upon Tsering to help us during the making of our own feature film, Dreaming Lhasa. As the Associate Producer, Tsering brought to the production, not only his experience and expertise, but also his good humour and positive personality and contributed immensely to the success of the shoot.
We look forward to collaborating with Tsering again and wish him and Mila Productions every success in their filmmaking ventures.

"Mila Productions greatly exceeded my expectations in Nepal. We had a very ambitious shooting schedule and they were able to adapt with us every step of the way. They made our job easier by having all the angles covered. They were very professional, knowledgeable, courteous and thorough. I would recommend them for anyone planning a production in Nepal. They know what they are doing!"
John Kitchener, Edelman ProductionsExecutive Producer for "The Relic Hunter with Ian Grant" for the Travel Channel.
"Their coordination and logistical organization of locations, well established network of excellent contacts - from drivers to cameramen, production assistants to village shamans, was incredible. It's what enabled us to get the very best out of our shoot in Nepal. Tsering and Mila Productions made an invaluable contribution to our program and to the overall production value of our series, we couldn't have done it without them."
Patrick Beedle, Edelman Productions Producer for "The Relic Hunter with Ian Grant" for the Travel Channel.
"I first met Tsering in a Kathmandu hotel lobby the day before we were about to embark into one of the most remote places on Earth. His breadth of knowledge of every aspect of filmmaking was truly a gift as a camera operator on my film. As we flew, drove, boated, and trecked through Arunachal Pradess up into the borderlands of Tibet, Tsering quickly became an indesensible member to our team. He not only operated a camera beautifully but he also translated Nepali, Hindi, and Tibetan for interviews, coordinated our work with porters and other locals, and added the greatest insight into the culture and landscape around us. And most importantly, he had a terrific sense of humour even when times were tough. At the end our trip Tsering was not just a co-worker, but a true friend."
Joshua L. Herrig is a director and producer working out of New York City. He's worked in all aspects of film production in the city, from script reader to producer, on many independent and studio films. He is currently directing a documentary about a team's search for paradise in one Tibet's many Beyul's, or hidden lands. His next documentary is a biography of a shaman in Brazil who has secretly led many western philospohers, artists, and business men on vision quests with the rainforest medicine ayahuasca.
Mila Productions was crucial to my project 100 Views Kathmandu, an educational program filmed in Kathmandu in 2008 in conjunction with the Mitrataa Foundation there. As a writer/producer, keen to make a half hour documentary of the Nepali experience working with Nepali teachers, the work of Tsering Rhita Sherpa as director film maker was recommended to me. Not only was his work of a high standard but Tsering and his team were a pleasure to work with in sometimes demanding circumstances over the five day shoot in schools and on many other locations. The time and care taken with the editing process resulted in a work of high quality, already successfully launched at the Randwick Ritz Theatre, Sydney and is currently showing on several community channels around Australia.
As director of Hathorn Enterprises Pty Ltd, I would highly recommend the work of Mila Productions and Tsering Rhitar Sherpa; and as a writer/producer I would very much like to work with him again.
I have had the pleasure of working with Tsering Ritar of Mila Productions on several occasions on complicated location shoots in Nepal. Tsering brought great coordinating, language and interpersonal skills and a deep knowledge of the country to our projects. As a Director of Photography, I appreciated his knowledge of the filmmaking process and his ability to anticipate what our needs would be. He also has a very good eye for shots. I recommend him in the highest possible terms to anybody working in or out of Nepal.
